State of Euphoria

Choreography by Charlotte Triebus

Directed by Gordon Kämmerer

Choreography for the theatre · 2023

The party starts outside. A truck pulls up at the Theater an der Ruhr and the first revellers spill out. By the end of the evening, the audience is dancing onstage with the cast.

Three performers throw their heads and arms back in crossing beams of green and white light.

Charlotte Triebus choreographed State of Euphoria for Gordon Kämmerer’s production at the Theater an der Ruhr. Taking their cue from Rainald Goetz’s Rave, the performers move through the foyer and onto the stage, where DJ Hundefriedhof plays from a booth built like a temple.

Guests pass the bouncers and enter the club. On the way from one scene to the next, they can change clothes, talk to the performers or join the dance. The beat continues after the performance with a set by DJ Hundefriedhof.
